Welcome to my craft room tour – Valentine’s Day edition!
Decorating my craft space continues to be a fun and creative way to celebrate holidays! I started doing it last fall when I decorated for Halloween and then I went totally overboard for Christmas.
Now I’m onto the looooove holiday! Albeit late. The big day was yesterday. OOPS!
Here is a look at my crafting table when I come down the stairs to my basement. The Valentine’s Day craft room theme is probably one of my most inexpensive themes to create so far!
This is a mix of DIY & thrifted along with some inexpensive things added from the Dollar Tree and WalMart.
DIY & Thrifted Decor
The two big items that I did mini-makeovers on were the mailbox and the arrow. These were ugly ducking items from Goodwill and Habitat Restore and I saw HUGE potential in them!
Here is a BEFORE shot of the mailbox.
I found this mailbox at Habitat Restore for $5.
FIVE DOLLARS!
My husband always rolls his eyes when I drag home these ugly duckling “TREASURES” but I just march on past him because I KNOW the potential!
I taped off the flag and handles and gave a base coat of Rustoleum primer. This stuff is SO GOOD! After it dried I used a couple coats of spray paint in my favorite aqua color, also from Rustoleum.
To add to the “love letters” theme, I made some felt envelopes and sealed them with felt hearts! EASY!
The next item I did a DIY makeover on was this wooden arrow from Goodwill. It was only a couple of bucks and all it needed was paint and some Dear Lizzy scrapbooking paper from American Crafts to make it a beauty!
I also thrifted the red scale, the white bubble gum machine (filled with pom poms), the children’s sewing machine, the black ceramic dog, white cake stand, and the black ampersand.
I repurposed a pom pom garland I made at Christmas time (full tutorial here) . Basically I shopped my storage room for anything red, pink or black!
Dollar Tree Decor
Next up! Decor from the Dollar Tree.
When you shop there, keep an open mind about what you might use to decorate! I found packages of these felt hearts and instantly I knew that for a buck, it was more inexpensive to buy them rather than DIY my own with felt and my Cricut (totally could’ve been done, but WHY!?).
A little bit of black and white baker’s twine made these dollar hearts and instant garland!
Surprisingly, I also found the large wooden pickup truck tag and this cute little heart-shaped cardboard book named “Love & Kindness” from the Dollar Tree. I also purchased the framed sign that says “Love makes a house a Home” from there.
Both are propped up using some styrofoam cubes that I hot glued to the back of them. When I take this stuff down and go to store it, I’ll just pop that foam off.
Walmart Finds
The last of the goodies used to decorate my craft room were from Walmart. The cute little “Kissing Booth” sign as well as the “I Love U” truck and the sweater heart all came from there.
I tried finding them back to link them, but alas, I think Walmart has moved on to a new holiday.
I hope you loved this little craft room tour!
Next up in these parts….SPRING!
