Last week I shared some tips for how to get started on the Farm Girl Vintage 2 Quilt (and sew it in a year). Each Friday on my blog I am showing you my blocks for this fabulous quilt!
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve likely seen a couple of these already.
To start, the first thing you need to to is figure out which blocks you want to be finished as 6″ blocks and which ones you want as 12″ blocks.
A great place to start is to flip through the book and see which ones are your favorite. I knew I loved certain blocks more than others, so oftentimes I would finish those in the 12 inch sizes.
That said, sometimes the blocks are most adorable when you finish them in the smaller size
In total you need to sew 20 – 12″ blocks and 30 – 6″ blocks to make the sampler quilt. Use a Post-It note to make your pages and make some notes on the ones you want to be big and the ones you want to be small.
To get started in my first week i picked the simple Autumn Pumpkin block and prepared it in the 12″ size. It came together quickly and easily and is so cute!
I completed my autumn pumpkin block in traditional orange, but I have seen some SUPER CUTE blocks on Instagram using some very non-traditional colors!
What would you choose? Traditional or something a bit spunky and fun?
