This free St. Patrick’s Day quilt pattern uses up a lot of scraps and is a free download in The Lucy Bird Freebie Library!
A free scrappy quilt pattern? Must be your LUCKY DAY!
Get it? St. Patrick’s Day?? LUCKY!?!?
Confession time: I’m not Irish and I haven’t always “participated” in St. Patrick’s Day.
Oh sure, I wore some green (sometimes) and if corned beef and cabbage were put in front of me I’d eat it (but honestly, I eat about anything and everything).
And what is it with Guinness? Yuck! That stuff is so thick it is almost as if you have to chew it to get it down.
The holiday just didn’t do much for me until….I took a scrapbooking trip to Ireland back in 2012 with the awesome Ali Edwards (I was more of a scrapbooker back then) on a Craftours vacation.
IRELAND CHANGED MY MIND!
Green? Yassss! Gimme the green!
Corned beef and cabbage? Yup. I’ll take that AND some bangers and mash.
Guinness?!….well (crickets)….still not a huge fan. I just don’t care for chewing my drinks.
I fell in love with Ireland!
There. I said it. I LOVE IRELAND!
The Irish countryside is more than gorgeous and the Irish people are so friendly, so I really have changed my mind about celebrating St. Paddy’s Day.
I want to get you in the spirit too, so I am sharing a pattern for this quick and fun scrappy wall hanging.
This pattern, along with a couple of others, are in my freebie library. Grab the password and download your copy.
It’s made with mostly scraps, so there is a good chance you already have everything you need in your stash.
This will come together even quicker if you use your Cricut Maker to cut the three hearts and stem. I did a full blog post + YouTube video on how to use your Cricut for applique and you read that and watch the video.
