I am sewing through Lori Holt’s Farm Girl Vintage 2 Book. I share my progress here on my blog along with any insights I have on the block or any farm girl memories it prompts. This week’s “Baked With Love Block” is on page 13.

I have never been able to tackle pie baking! As much as I wish it were true, my attempts have been nothing but failures.
Maybe my water isn’t cold enough?
Perhaps I over-work the dough?
Whatever the case may be, I CAN NOT MAKE A DECENT PIE TO SAVE MY LIFE!
My mom, on the other hand, now SHE can make a pie! Her apple pie in the fall the is what autumnal dreams are made of.
The crust? Flakey.
The filling? Oozing.
She really knows how to make a pie now!

This block whisks me back to the times I came home from school on crisp October day with harvesters out in the field. She would have a slice ready (I preferred it cold versus hot from the oven).
